Hi I'm Luke
I farm in the Cambridgeshire Fens on a Cambridgeshire County Council holding.
Farming’s always been in my blood. I grew up on our family farm, which my dad — Farmer Clive — still runs today. After studying at Moulton College in Northampton and Milton College in Cambridge, I worked on a range of farms gaining hands-on experience in everything from potato stacking and harvesting to irrigation and crop management.
While still at home, I started growing early potatoes on a small acreage of my dad’s farm. I harvested and bagged them by hand and sold them directly to local fish and chip shops before the main crop was ready. That was my first real step into building something of my own.
At 21, I applied for a Cambridgeshire County Farms tenancy. The process involved business plans, cash flow forecasts, a full SWOT analysis, and multiple interviews. Out of more than 60 applicants, I was successful.
The original tenancy was 178 acres. Over time, through steady growth and reinvestment, I’ve expanded it to around 400 acres. Today I grow wheat, barley and potatoes here in the Fens.
I’m still farming the same land now — alongside my wife and our two sons — building something we’re proud of and sharing it beyond the farm gate.
