Bringing Farming to Life
Helping young people understand where food comes from, what farming really involves, and why British agriculture matters.
Helping children understand the land behind their food.
For me, it’s all about starting a conversation and getting young people thinking about food — where it comes from, how it is grown and what it takes to produce it.
One of the biggest highlights was going down to Downing Street with NFU Education to run a workshop with a school. It was an experience I’ll never forget.
Starting conversations about food, farming and the environment.
I’m a firm believer in education. I love getting into local primary schools and talking about how we actually produce food on a working farm — with props, examples and sometimes even a tractor if I can.
I’m also part of the NFU Education Farmers for Schools programme, going into secondary schools to explain how we balance food production with looking after the environment.
Making farming understandable, real and memorable.
Food Production
Helping pupils understand how food is grown, harvested and prepared before it reaches their plate.
The Environment
Explaining how farmers balance food production with caring for soil, wildlife, water and the countryside.
Modern Farming
Showing that farming is skilled, technical, practical and vital to the country’s future.
NFU Education and Farmers for Schools
Through the NFU Education Farmers for Schools programme, Luke helps bring real farming stories into classrooms and gives young people a better understanding of British agriculture.
Farming, education and real-world learning.
If young people understand where food comes from, they understand the value of farming.
